چکیده

Background: Flower bud/s, flower/s and fruit/pod/s abscission is one of the momentous bottlenecks in pulses general pigeonpea particular, resulting poor reproductive efficiency. Abscission occurs both before after fertilization. Knowledge on nature extent genetic variation available genotypes help breeders for planning breeding programmes to identify that retain maximum flowers hence increase pod set. Methods: A total 19 advanced stabilized lines including 2 local checks (GRG-811 TS-3R) were evaluated randomized block design (RBD) with two replications rain fed irrigated condition at Zonal Agricultural Research Station (ZARS), Kalaburagi, during kharif 2018. Genetic flower production, pollen load studied interpreted. Result: The viz., RIL-63, RIL-59, GRG-152 KRG-224 showed good number pods set per plant rainfed 3 Genotypes WRP-R-29-4, ICPL-15017 condition. genotype Sets more under conditions. Pollen grains was undropped compared dropped flower.

Integrated Weed Management in Pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.]

Uncontrolled weeds cause considerable losses in the grain yield of pigeonpea. Field experiments were conducted for seven years from 1998 to 2004 on a loamy sand soil to study the effect of weed management on weeds, growth and grain yield of pigeonpea. In some years, weed dry matter was higher than in others, due to variation in rainfall received. Two hand weedings, pendimethalin in integration ...

Genetic Patterns of Domestication in Pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.) and Wild Cajanus Relatives

Pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan) is an annual or short-lived perennial food legume of acute regional importance, providing significant protein to the human diet in less developed regions of Asia and Africa. Due to its narrow genetic base, pigeonpea improvement is increasingly reliant on introgression of valuable traits from wild forms, a practice that would benefit from knowledge of its domestication ...

Phenotypic diversity and amylolytic activity of fast growing rhizobia from pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.]

This study evaluated 26 pigeonpea rhizobial isolates according to their cultural characteristics, intrinsic antibiotic resistance, salt and temperature tolerance, carbon source utilization and amylolytic activity. The cultural characterization showed that the majority of them presented the ability to acidify the YMA. Among the 27 isolates evaluated, 25 were able to grow when incubated at 42° C ...
